Today we had a late start seeing as we both slept like the dead! Slightly sore and a little achy, we had some breakfast and got on with the list of jobs Jo had left us. Thankfully, we had the afternoon to relax at a nearby beach, which was lovely as the day was balmy and pleasant. There were even mallard ducks waddling around on the beach, not something we'd usually see at home, and the surrounding countryside was amazing. Jo and her son Ethan, took us for a walk around the hills and through the woodland to the look out area on the cliffs. It was great having them both tell us the names of the wildlife and the flora we were seeing as we'd not have a clue. As Jo pointed out though, it was oddd that the area we were walking through reminded us a little of the jungle in Asia (the ferns, palms and other exotics) and a lot of the woodland at home (the oaks, sycamores and some of the pine treees.)
We are off to Auckland again tomorrow to have another sniff around the town but also to check out the cost of buying a van as this is the preferred way of touring the two islands. We figured that combined with the WWOOFing (the last two days have cost us nothing but sweat and hard work) and having our own transport we might be able to stay for a little longer in NZ as we already have a six month visa which we can extend, and maybe even look into getting a working visa and see winter, spring and the summer here!!
