Singapore zoo is an interesting place, if you enjoy looking at caged animals through wire mesh, but actually, we both found the enclosures were big enough for most of the "exhibits" (with the big cats being the exception) and we rather enjoyed our day there.

Zoo's are funny things, not funny ha ha, usually, but rather contradictory. You know that man's encroachment on the natural habitat of these animals has lead to them being conserved in zoo's for their own survival, but you know that if mankind were not so damned greedy and ignorant then the animals wouldn't have to be there in the first place; and you know in your heart of hearts that modern man's greed is your own, your desire to travel, your desire to have a comfortable living in the rich west, your addiction to oil...etc.etc.

Still, zoo's can be as much fun when you're a kid and you're an adult (provided you ignore the argument above) and we both enjoyed Singapore zoo. Maybe not as much as we'd enjoyed seeing the animals (especially the big cats) in the vast enclosures in Longleat, but the animals were well cared for and housed in natural surroundings, so: fun, fun, fun. We hope that the photos we posted will do it some justice. In fact, we were there from mid morning until almost closing, so there's plenty to see. You can even wrangle over your emotive guilt with a nice cup of English tea and a scone, if you fancy it.

Thanks for letting me rant hypocritically x x
