Carrie and I have learnt not to celebrate prematuraly when we make it to the train station or even on the train cause we could have somehow made a mistake and be going the wrong direction. But we allowed some joy when we found our hotel and everthing ran smoothly. (this is very rare).
I already love Austria and we havnt even been around yet. i think it is just the contrast to Prague people, but everyone is so nice. I keep expecting someone to yell at me but they are all smiles.
I tis strange crossing a border on the train. Only 4 hours south and so different. as soon as we crossed into Austria on the train, i didnt even have to ask what country we were in. The fog was gone, replaced by the sun and the rund down houses replaced by perfrect doll houses all in a row.
when we got to the station i realised i had metro directions but no address. We went anyway. We bought what we think is a valid two day ticket for Vienna and we off on the tram and the metro. I followed signs to the internet but ran into our hotel instead.
The einsuite hotel is luxury compared to what we are used to for hostels. We hae a private room with 3 mirrors, a carpet, bedside tables and a closet.
We are so buggered so we jsut walked along the shops and found some dinner. I had some Gluhwein and we ate at a turkish restuarant. really good value we are stuffed and satisfied and now have to go to bed early so we can get all we can out of our one day in Vienna. We had Schnityel and apple strudel so that should be pretty authentic Austrian, no?
Like everywhere I know we are going to want to stay longer but there are places to be, things to see and, most importantly, I cant afford it
