Where I stayed
we met with people from the hostel and started walking with them so they could show us where the highest point in barcelona is. we ended up hanging wit people all day till we got back to the hostel at 6pm. met a russian chick from New York and we got lost through where the olympics used to be.
i was just stoked to see the ocean and the blue sky even if the weather was 10degree Celcius.
Got lost when we wandered off the map but i loved it how we asked for directions and noone spoke an inch of english it actually felt safer outside tourist-ville and we managed to work out that we had to catch bus 9 to get to the metro stop espanya. we ran into a convention thing that is all fashion ladida and walked past it to the museum of catalan art and past the magic fountain which is drained for the winter. i am so bummed that was on the top of my list. (i even dreampt about it) no matter. got back to the hostel and bought pasta and pasta sauce from the grocery store and made that up and went to bed early.
woke up at 9am having 12 hours sleep i felt great. Carrie moaned and rolled over to tell me she was feeling sick, just as i was feeling great for the first time on the trip. we like to take turns at least one of us can do the thinking when the other is sick so we dont get runover or lost etc.
i chatted on facebook over brekky for an hour. Carrie comes down at 11am all dressed and showered so now i am behind. anyway as usual we get out afternoon. oh well
we take it easy and go to the market boqueria (sant josep) AMAZING i am so in love i think i will cheat on the musee d orsay with this market. alot of meat but also so much fresh fruit and vegies and fruit juice. and nuts and chocolate all layed out so pretty and colourful. heaps of locals getting thier groceries there aswell. so excited i have to go back. i got fresh ravioli spinach in cheese sauce. i also had to try the organic stall i had a vegie crepe and some rice and salad. very healthy but i am defs going back for more pasta. carrie got asian. if my health woudl hold up i would get some chocolate. (there are so many chocolate stores where are they on the gold coast?)
then we walked down las ramblas towards the peir with our food. we sat on the edge with out food soaking up the sun getting all the heat we could. we still had jackets and scarves and gloves really wierd but the best weather we will prolly have the whole trip so we are really enjoying it now.
i bought a new jacket in H&M 20 euro (about the max i would spend) it was well needed my green one was getting over worn and i was really getting over it. anyhoo i still need warmer gloves and a jacket (i would love to be bold and get red!!) wish i could go to ross.
we then went to diagonal metro stop to find an english bookstore i looked up. after half an hour of walking we found it and Carrie and I couldnt be happier. after another half an hour of searching we both bought a book and carrie is upstairs relaxing. (we were out for about 5-6 hours when she is sick). so prolly another quiet night tonight.
tomorrow (well there is not much point in making plans when they are always altered) but...
good weather = gaudi stuff and park or zoo
raining = picasso museum and movie
its all good
i couldnt ask for a better travel partner than Carrie, we both like the same stuff and have the same speed and thoughts for what we do and where we go. She is such a sport being sick and just popping pills and vitamins and not complaining once. champ!
so far it is nice taking things slower
wish you were here
has never felt like such an apt saying as now
