We arrived here by bus a few days ago, on Saturday to be precise, after an overnight stop in Hubli on the way from Hampi. The beaches of Gokarna, on the Arabian Sea, are quite beautiful and certainly free of excess commercialization. The sacred cows here seem to be much healthier and much happier than the ones we encounter on the streets of Indian cities ... and we are hanging out with them on Om Beach.

We're planning on spending the week here and attending Shivaratri Festival which takes place in the village of Gokarna from Thursday to Saturday, before heading up to Mumbai (Bombay).
