20/7/04
We got up early and decided to spend some time looking around the town the palace is in.... Agios Gordios..... Its a small and friendly place with not too much going on! Headed back to the beach again, sunbathed some more and swam in the lovely sea. Headed to dinner, the palace is alot quieter tonight, it seems alot of people have moved on...sat at a table with a guy from New Orleans, who had the most amazing accent you've ever heard....telling us stories about Mardi Gras and the partying ........and the time he spent in Dublin during a GAA final with mad Armagh fans! Brilliant guy who'd make you want to visit his home town!! We headed to the bar to place some Foozball where i whipped Paddys ass!!! OH im sooooo good!! Paddy said his team had a lot of injuries but that was the words of a sore loser!! Had a few games just to ensure i was top of my game and then headed back to the apartment.
21/7/04 We checked out of the palace but weren't leaving until that evening so we left our gear in the luggage room..... We headed into Corfu town today for a nosey.....The bus was only 1.50Euro each way..... We had a look around the old fortress and some shops and then headed back to the palace. As usual we headed for the beach to swim and lie in the sun, finally updated the travel pod (sorry guys I've got lazy with this beach life style!) We had booked onto the bus to Athens that night, included in the deal was dinner, use of the facilities all day and the over night bus to Athens... all for 38Euro each.... not a bad deal! We boarded the bus at 9pm to be told that we would have one stop and two ferries before reaching Athens at 8am.....well what a night!! Fristly we boarded a ferry at Corfu that was only 2 hours long, then back on the bus again.......This was one night when i could sleep but the driver kept waking us up, firstly so he could bring us all into a res truant at 3am and then again for the next ferry crossing at 5am....with hardly any sleep we stumbled into Hostel Aphrodite (where the bus drops you off) booked in and slept until 1.30pm
