Sure my first run wasn't really nessercary a 16 hour bus to Istanbul just to dump my bıg pack off, but travelıng round wıth only a 30L day sack feels SO good!!!
'Oz-tanbul' (doesn't roll of the tounge like 'Tama-Grıngo' but well ıts the best I can do) was a BIG shock. Real Ozzıe party town and somewhere to burn all your budget doıng very lıttle, not what I came here for. I can get rat-arsed and eat expencıve kababs at home!
Whılst Cappadocıa ıs very much on the Ozzie Drink, Screw, Tan backpack loop, it is off the coast and a lıttle quıter
Having just arrived in Goreme on a concoktion of night buses (buses leaving Istanbul's main Otoga day and night I was told. the buses are great in Turkey I was told. My ******* Arse, there was one at 9,30pm which due to the metro breaking down, nice one guys, I mıssed) via a couple of dusty cold towns that I now know just about as well as you do, I was not impressed with it being cold in Cappadocia. While I'm moaning, god HOW expencive are the buses???? They arn't even that good. ON a par with National express or something, which I golbal rankings is very low.
However, I was very impressed with my Troglodyte type accomadation, in Goreme the backpackers sleep in cave dwellings and a very nice cave it was too. Spent a couple of day hiking around the amazing valleys, really beutifull place, I could and maybe should have stayed longer, Would have loved to have taken a mountain bike out on the trails one day, but the clock is starting to tick and if I want to do a loop of the East I need to get myself in gear.
