It's been a little while since I last wrote! Things had finally just became routine and then we left for our study field trip! Prior to that, I was getting money from my ATM card when I got distracted.. turns out the ATM eats and shreds cards if they are left in the slot for more than 30 seconds! Guess who's card got eaten.. and right before our field study trip too! A week's worth of travel in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macau, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan and no ATM card! On the bright side, it just means I won't be spending nearly as much as I probably would if I did have it! We arrived in Shenzhen yesterday morning and we'll be leaving for Hong Kong by ferry tomorrow afternoon.

Shenzhen is nice and quite modern--it's a city that is still being developed! The average age here is 30 and almost everyone speaks CANTONESE! YES!! I feel like we haven't done much in Shenzhen because it's only been a couple days. Yesterday, we went to the historical museum of Shenzhen as well as Citizen's Plaza. Our hotel rooms are 5-star and SO nice! I have never slept better than last night since coming to China! We also went to a cultural show in a folk village yesterday. This morning, we had a breakfast buffet at the hotel and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It was western-style--eggs, toast, bacon! YUM! I really miss American breakfast! After that, we left the hotel to go the first nuclear power plant of the country, only we got lost on the way and spent 3 hours on the bus finding it! We had an interesting seafood lunch on the seaside and got to spend some time on the beach, it was nice! However, it was in the middle of nowhere and I felt like we spent most of the time on the bus rather than actually doing stuff. After the lunch, we drove another couple hours back to the heart of the city to go to Da Fen Oil Painting Village.

A couple of the other girls and I didn't stay and went to Susan's parents' apartment in Shenzhen. It was our first experience using the public buses outside of Shanghai. The apartments they live in are so cool! They're only a few years old and in front of all the buildings is this really pretty park. They also have a community pool the size of 10+ cars! We had dinner with her family and it was delicious, reminding me so much of my parents' cooking and making me miss home! After we got back, we went to 7-11 and bought slurpees (delicious!), finally here I am! I'm going to try to finish uploading my pictures so far and get them online tonight. I am so excited for shopping and going out in Hong Kong, it will be so much fun!

I'm going to enjoy my last night in the most comfortable bed ever and dream about what another amazing breakfast we will have in the morning! I miss you all so very much! :)

Tina, I'm so happy you are having a good time! I've been wanting to tell you something completely unrelated to this: I have never met so many people who do not like Twilight :( It makes me so sad, and I wish you were here so I could have an ally! I miss you tons!
