After a 20 hour bus ride it was good to finally arrive in Chicago. The hostel I stayed at looked great and had a nice common room with free air hockey and a ping pong table. Looking back I think I had the most fun in chicago. I went out for 5 consecutive night and each was better than the last.

The first night (Friday) the hostel had organised a pub crawl and I signed up for that and we got taken to the uptown district of chicago to 4 different bars throughout the night. The bars were great and each was very different and I got to test my skills at beer pong. When we got to the second bar I handed my ID to the bouncer and then turned around next to him to look for my mate. This French guy then walked up to me and hands me his ID mistaking me for the bouncer. I looked At it and said "nah sorry mate, Can't let you in". The look on his face was great. It was funny until the bouncer gave me a strange look so I quickly got myself a beer

The next night the hostel organized a trip to the Michigan park to look at a free dance festival (ballet) and i wasn't going to go, but when I saw that most of the group were good-looking girls I quickly changed my mind. We got pizza and beer on the way so it turned out to be a great night. Pizza and beers outside in the park with gorgeous girls. Can't complain.

On Sunday we got a group together and went up the John Hancock tower to have a drink. And this tower is known to have a amazing view in the girls bathroom. So all the girls went off armed with cameras to have a look. So I figured I'd check out the men bathroom. It's was all concrete. Not even one little window. But we the view in the bar was nice so no complaints here.

The following night we went to a great blues bars. This was one of the first blues bars around and it was great. There were two live blues bands performing who would alternate every hour. The atmosphere and the music was great and they sold buckets of beer which helped.

The people I met were great especially a Dutch guy called Bart who became my partner in crime at the ping pong table. After a couple of days we were known all over chicago as the ping pong cowboys because every night before and after we went out, we would play atleast an hour of ping pong. So if anyone is ever in chicago, just mention that you know the ping pong cowboys, and doors will open.

Pictures coming soon
I'm in Boston now and there is supposed to be a hurricane in 30 minutes so we will see how that goes.

Hi Tim, Wow, Chicago sounded awesome! What a great thing that hostels organize so many activities for their guests! Boston is a great city. I have visited it twice, first time being 21 and last time 30 and pregnant with Max. John and I walked the whole city via a walking path called the Boston Trail. I think Boston would be the most European city of all American cities. Enjoy it. I am visiting Omi at the mo. Went shopping today in Groningen. which is THE thing to do here. It amazed me to see so many beautiful girls around (all students I assume) but I remember your brother had noticed that as well when he lived in Holland last year. Anyway, tomorrow off to Schier and next week Omi and I are touring around to see most of the family including meeting the 2 new babies (Tijn en Arthur). See ya. Liefs, Aleid
