Where I stayed
On the way, we had some regular shopping to do. Using Google maps and the sat nav, we programmed in a route to let Tim and Bazzie visit Fry's, which is a hugemungous electronics shop. Bazzie bought new head phones and Tim 'needed' various adapters and branches for ipads, ipods, shuffles etc.
The girls had a look in some shops called Ross, which sells end of line designer clothes (and other more regular stuff) in a warehouse setting. Eliza found a gorgeous puffy dress which we'll post home.
At Galleria, we mostly just took in the experience. Eliza knew of a shop called Forever 21 and was keen to get some momentos for friends at home, but there was a queue, so she didn't. The whole complex is basically a glossy version of some of the big shopping malls in Australia
Jaina put us in contact with her cousins here in Dallas who invited us for dinner. We were a bit unsure about how this would go, since we hadn't met them, but we had a wonderful evening. It was so nice to have some company and to be in a home. Lynnda and Akshat immediately made us feel very welcome. When we arrived Akshat was cooking on the BBQ and we had an American version of an Australian BBQ - finished off with Apple Pie - it was perfect. There was a college football game on and Bazzie got caught up in that which extended our evening longer than we'd intended.
The sat nav took us on a convoluted route getting to the Chinai's house - it seemed we were turning second right and third left and every which way. Like the downtown district, the suburb was neat and ordered with no fences and picture book houses. Tim basically has the knack of getting about on the correct side of the road, but we still have some nervous moments.
