I disagree with people who say that the tube is an efficient transport system. It takes at least an hour to get anywhere, it is always packed and uncomfortable. To get to the places I wanted to go, I always seemed to have to change lines at least twice. Paris Metro is far better - you can get anywhere in the city without having to change more than once. It took me two hours to get from Gatwick airport to my hostel in Russell Square, with 3 huge bags. So glad to have that nightmare over! I met Mary, David and Sam the first night for dinner at an English pub in Leicester square, which was lovely. They are very nice people and always make me feel welcome. I got a chicken and leek pie, which I've been craving for 3 months! I love English pubs. The next day I met up with Victoria and some more of Sean and Vin's friends in Camden, a place in London which Vince from The Mighty Boosh always talks about. They are also very lovely people. I had Indian for dinner - it is so good in England. They have better chips, and better Indian food in general than in Australia.  Victoria took me to the Tate Modern which was good, I like Modern art. I only saw some of it, but I think I prefer Pompidou in Paris. I didn't like the videos much. They were quite sick, and sometimes horrific. I walked around London a bit by myself looking for a laundrette (my hostel was only half built, and didn't have most of the facilities they advertised. I gave them a bad review.), and I decided that I like London, and that perhaps I will live here one day, for a little while. I need to get some experience in social work before I could be a social worker here, their guidelines for employment in fields like that are stricter, and require more experience and/or study than in Australia. I like how London is so multicultural, like Sydney. It is huge, and there is much to discover. Though, I couldn't stay forever due to the weather.
