Barcelona is beautiful. If I could speak the language, I could definitely live here. I preferred it to Paris. Jo and I went on a tour of some architecture by Gaudi, which was quite cool. I liked the mosaics and the way his architecture resembles nature and symbolises stories about dragons and princesses. I wish we had cool architecture in Sydney (the Opera house is pretty good, but there isn't much else). Nothing original like this. The last Gaudi attraction was excellent - it was behind Barcelona, so we had a magnificent view of the City contrasted with the Sea. We also did a tour of the Gothic Quarter, which is the area where we stayed. I enjoyed walking through the narrow, shady and carless streets, looking at gothic symbols in the architecture. We also relaxed on the beach and got a massage, which was very refreshing, as the heat is very overpowering here compared to Paris. The beach was not as good as the beaches in Sydney, as the sand and water were a bit dirty. We enjoyed some fantastic food - we had lots of gelato, as it was everywhere, and on the last night we went to a cheap restaurant nearby with some lovely English chaps we met at our hostel and paid 10 euros each for 10 plates of tapas and 2 main plates of seafood paella, and 5 drinks, between 5 people Gaudi Architecture

. Bargain. I could have eaten half of the amount I ate and been satisfied! We cooked in the hostel the other nights, which was quite difficult as it had the worst kitchen I've ever seen. It would not be adequate for 1 person, let alone 150. There was only one hot plate, 1 fry pan, 1 pot, and about 5 plates. A lot of people didn't bother to clean up after themselves either, despite the fact that there were at least 50 people waiting to use the stuff they left in the sink. A member of the staff quite rudely told me to clean up my dinner when I was clearly in the process of doing so. Twat. Our rooms had aircon and our beds were like little cubby houses, with a draw screen for a bit of privacy. It will be good to get my own room in Nice, I hate having to lock things up all the time, always having to watch my stuff. I hope it isn't too hot in Nice, it doesn't matter what I wear in Spain, I'm still so hot, all the time.
