Melbourne AUSTRALIA!!

And here we are in Melbourne.... The second leg of our trip. It was an early morning out of Auckland (we were waiting for our shuttle bus at 4:30 am), but we made it without losing anything and without any more holes in our backpacks (don't think it was mentioned, but it seems as though the Americans threw our backpacks around a good deal on our way to Auckland the first time as we picked them from the baggage conveyer belt rather roughed up).
Being the terribly organized people that we are, we got on the phone from the airport and called the surrounding hostels. When we finally found a YHA with beds, we booked and high-tailed it over there to dump our stuff. After walking in to our dorm room and interrupting two of our roomies who seemed to be engaging in "un-hostel-like" behaviour (please refer to Christchurch and the Humper), we set out to discover the city.
We located the Global Gossip and called Mrs. Quinn to wish her happy b-day and then had some sushi at a tiny sushi shop along Queen Street (the main drag). After spending way too many hours in succession together, Tim and I decided it would be in the best interest of our relationship that we go our separate ways at the huge mall we had located. After about an hour of alone time, we walked back to the hostel and planned to go to the movies that night.
Despite practically falling asleep in my dinner, I managed to stay awake through "American Gangster" (a great movie, by the way). We went to bed after a super long day, ready to tackle the car rental shops tomorrow so that we can make our way up the east coast.
