Thanks to my wonderful friend Buddha, I had a long weekend and took full advantage of it. :)
My Co-teacher and her family took me to Gunsan. Gunsan is a city on the western peninsula. It is famous for being the first city to be attacked by Japan during the war. The lone Japanese temple in Korea is located in Gunsan. It was used by the Japanese high-ranking officials during the war.
Also, because Gunsan was the first city to be attacked there are a lot of museums and memorials dedicated to various individuals. One of the more famous museums is dedicated after a man who did most of the writing during the war. Because of his publications Koreans are able to read about the attack
The highlight of the trip was our pension. We stayed at a beach side pension. It was great to finally get out of the city and enjoy the country side. While the weather wasn't the greatest, it was still worth it. Overall, it was a very relaxing weekend and I got to learn a lot of history.
On Sunday, my bball team had our league championships. We ended up losing in the championship game. Therefore we finished 2nd/8 teams. Maybe next season?! I will get some pictures from team members and post them later.
Hope all is well,
