After NY I landed in Dallas for three months. In addition to spending time with my friend Don from Minnesota, I have been putting effort towards the writing of my travels. It's an interesting process. I've never have done it before. I think each writer goes through his or her own process.

Don and I have been on a couple of road trips. We've been hanging out in Dallas and in Ft. Worth. Don lives in Euless, about halfway between the two. I've been cooking quite a bit, trying new things each week. Have gone to a few BBQ's (friends of Don's). Periodically I hang out at the pool to cool off when it's not and humid and not raining. The weather's been extremely rainy. North Texas has had record rainfall for the last few months. I don't mind as I'm inside working.

My friend Rich from graduate school came into town for my birthday from Baton Rouge. We celebrated outside at a fun Mexican restaurant, Joe T's in Ft. Worth with Don and a new friend, Richard. Afterwards we headed over to Billy Bob's (the biggest honkytonk in the world) for a live concert. The following day Rich and I went to Sixth Floor Museum, where JFK was shot in downtown Dallas.

Last weekend (July 6-8) Don and I drove down to San Antonio and Austin. Did the Riverwalk, saw the Alamo and watched an incredible sunset over Lake Austin from Mt. Bonell. Hung out for a bit at the Oasis overlooking Lake Travis before heading back to Euless. I've really enjoyed my stay and learned that there are very nice, interesting people everywhere I go.

Next I'm heading to see Rich in New Orleans for 5 days next, then onto Minneapolis until end of August.
