Our fourth month in Sydney was full of change. After John's little sister joined us Down Under the previous month it was now time to say goodbye to Nick and Mandy who had been our housemates ever since we arrived in Oz. After much planning and many early morning starts (4am most days - stupid welshies ;-)) they headed off to Ayres Rock and the East coast. We on the other hand decided that after 4 months in Australia it was probably time we got a bit adventurous too. Australia is huge and the options open to where we could go were just as massive. After much deliberation we hired a car and made the long and arduous trip to the Blue Mountains - a whole 1 hour 30 minutes out of Sydney!! The scenery is very different to the city and much colder so this definitely wasn't the place to prance about in a bikini. John decided it WAS a place to prance about though and he soon had Kerry, Claire, Paula and Ali trekking up and down mountainsides. The only motivation for the girls was the prospect of chocolate at the end if we didn't ask "are we nearly there yet?!" too much Don't try and find us - we are not in there!
Don't try and find us - we are not in there!
! Several kilometres later and with shaking, painful thighs we were sat in a chocolate shop undoing all the good exercise - not a bad trip all in all!

Later in the month back in Sydney it was the annual City to Surf competition. Thousands of people take part to raise money for charity but following the 3 days of agony Kerry's thighs went through following the Blue Mountains, she made it clear to John that we would be NOT be taking part! The race ends at Bondi so we made our way there (by train!) for our first view of Bondi Beach. It didn't disappoint (although any beach with a bit of sun looks good when you're from Scunthorpe or Bury!), and we looked forward to spending a very typically 'pome' Christmas there!
