Today I took two walking tours. The first was a general walking tour around sydney. It was informative an interesting. Sydney Harbour is great. It reminds me of Jacksonville Landings. The only thing it's missing is someting iconic; like Jax Landing has those giant letters that spell out "THE LANDING"' and the landing has a Hooters restaurant. Maybe sydney harbour could get a Hooters.
Just kidding. Sydney harbour is wonderfully beautiful and the iconic opera house is superb. They say the sun never knew how beautiful it was until it reflected off the opera house. OK Aussies, chill out with the ego, mates.
At night, I took a walking tour of the rocks, which used to be the seedy underbelly section of sydney. There were gangs who controled the streets. They would beat you with socks filled with sand and then dump the sand out after the beating so they would no longer have a weapon on them. Also, and I'm not quoting the Will Ferrel movie Talledega Nights, this is true, packs of wild dogs controlled the rocks. No joke, they used to stroll the streets and eat kids. Maybe a dingo really did eat your baby! Also, local bars used to "'shanghi"' people. One drink you would pay for, the next would be free, and so on. At the end of the night you would be super drunk and ask for a drink, and the bartender would activate the trap door under your barstool. You would wake up the next day as a slave on a ship in the middle of the ocean. That would suck. Big time.
This hostel has it all. Bar, restaurant, sauna. It's the best.
Also the crosswalks make this cool alien laser gun sound when they turn green so you know when to cross but it also makes me duck and look out for laser blasts.
