Where I stayed

I got into Tokyo last night.

Today I slept in a little bit. then I went to this pretty cool temple and street shopping area nearby.

Japan recently built a tower that is the tallest free standing structure in the world, not the tallest building though, and it opened in may 2012 so I went to it. Its called the sky tree and it has a mall at the bottom of it. It was nice but the line to go to the top was over an hour long so I skipped that part.

Japan is very interesting. It is very clean and the people are so nice and polite. even the people at McDonalds bow and say thank you after any interaction. It is a very expensive place, however, so that was a big shock coming from such a cheap place like Bangkok.

I downloaded the 2003 bill Murray movie Lost in Translation, it is based in Tokyo, so i will watch that soon to help me understand this city and culture more.

Another thing. There was a Japanese celebrity at the airport. All these girls were looking and pointing at him. At first I thought they were excited about me but I was wrong. A Japanese celebrity is probably equivalent to seeing a minor league baseball player in public in the states.

good idea... go to Bill Murray when you need info about culture and the facts about a country. nailed it.

Of course. On a similar note, instead of taking Marine Biology in college I just watched Life Aquatic, the Adventures of Steve Zizzoo.
