world (Bar 4060, 4060 meters above sea level) with my two new Brit
friends and two new dutch friends.
was the scariest day of my life. I went on a silver mine tour in Potosi
with my new friend Frank and Antonio, the guide. Antonioīs father and
grandfather died in the mines. 8 million people died in the mines in a
century. We were told to buy the miners gifts of dynamite, cigarettes,
coca leaves, and rubbing alcohol to drink so we did
surreal and horrible. They had devil idols they worshiped for
protection down in the mines. i did not like that. While in the mines
you could hear the dynamite explosions below and feel the rumble. We
went to level 3 down out of 14 levels. The lowest level has intense
heat and unbearable conditions. We saw water that would kill you if you
drank it and asbestos crystals that you canīt touch.
The most intense moment came when we went through a
tunnel that was only about four feet high and had train tracks. There
was a recent dynamite explosion and dust was everywhere. i could only
see a few feet in front and behind me and frank and the guide were
ahead of me a ways. I couldnīt breath and I was coughing. I yelled for
help and reached out my hand
held my breath and ran forward until there was no more dust. It was so
scary, I told the guide no mas dust so we skipped the dynamite
explosion demonstration part of the tour. I was so glad to get out of
the mines and I was happy I was not a miner.
I just finished a 21 hour trip from Bolivia to Argentina so i will sign off now. I hope everyone is well!
by the way most of the girls in Argentina are very attractive!
