Hi everyone, so finally in Koh Chang, our isalnd paradise! Much needed to wash the dirt and grime away after travelling through some of the worlds most polluted and populated cities!
We had fun in Hong kong but were glad to finally leave the city and arrive somewhere more rural. Our flight to Bangkok went without a hitch. We arrived in Bangkok eager to get to our next destination. We had it all organised, the bus station we needed to go to (even written in Thai so it didnt get confused) and where we needed to go to catch the ferry to the island. We jumped in the taxi and we were heading to the eastern bus terminal in Bangkok. Of course the taxi driver must have thought that was too short, so he took us to the furthest bus teminal away. Our fare was supposed to be about 250 baht and he drove us around until he got 600 baht, dropping us at the wrong terminal in the process
We finally arrived at the correct bus station just before our first tropical storm of the trip. We organised our bus which for a 5 hour trip was a bargain. 240 baht so about 5 euro! We got food and movies and were quite confortable for the 5 hours "express" trip, which of course means stopping and every Tom, Dick and Harry's house along the way. We arrived about 12 30, survived lightning almost hitting the bus and stayed at a nice Thai guest house. We were happy to finally arrive!
Next morning we got on the ferry, again the taxt drivers tried to rip us off and has the slowest ferry in the world to the island. Tim said he could have swum faster and I totally agree!
Once on the island we had to get a shared songthaew taxi to our beach (about 20 min) Again the taxi drivers were just so rude. They are such greedy bastards filling up to capacity and asking for us much as 1000baht. It should be 100 baht and they just try their luck. It pissed us off so we sat for an hour and waited for another guy. I love asia but the attitude really gets to me. I understand they have to make a living but it is so frustrating and I never understand people saying how friendly the thai people are. At home do you love the people that try and rip you off??? No, so why do they love Thai people so much? We know its not all but still it doesnt give a good impression
We have an awesome bungalow on the cliff looking up a beautiful coconut palm lined beach. The weather is really humid as its the rainy season and when the sun comes out its so warm!! So we are happy to be here, already really relaxed and looking forward to the next week of being lazy, swimming, checking out the waterfalls and maybe having a drink or two! Am trying to talk Tim into riding an elephant to the waterfalls. He wants to but thinks its too touristy. I totally agree but really want to do it!!
Bye for now will keep you all posted xx
