Yesterday, we woke up at 4:00 am and took the shuttle bus to the airport. Our plane was right on time and we arrived in Sydney 2 ½ hours later. We flew with Quantas both times and were really impressed with their service. Our flight to New Zealand was another 2 ½ hours. When booking the flight, the time difference never crossed our minds so we thought the flight was much longer but to our surprise it was a short flight! We our now 16 hours ahead from back home. It was pretty cloudy when we flew in so we didn't see much, however, we did notice how green the grass is here.

When we arrived, we had no problems going through customs. Probably because we really looked like tourists with our flip-flops and shorts while everyone else was dressed in long pants and winter coats. When we left the airport, there was a shuttle bus waiting and it brought us directly to our hostel. After we got settled and showered we walked around but most stores were closed being Sunday. At least now we fit in a bit more with our cargo pants and polar hoodies. It's winter here so the weather is a bit cool at night, around 19 Celsius. Our hostel is right downtown and we're on the top floor and have a great view of the city. Our room has two twin beds with a good size night table in the middle. The perfect spot for all of our books we've accumulated along the way. We also have a storage unit for our clothes with hangers.

We rented a spaceship campervan today. It's pretty well equipped but you can have a look at the following website to get a better idea. http://www.spaceships.tv/features.php They're bringing it to the hostel on Wednesday and we'll have it until the 14th of May. Everyone we talked to said this was the best way to see New Zealand. We can't wait to hit the road! We have unlimited km's and will be able to drop it off in Christchurch.

We spent the afternoon walking around town, visiting different shops. I bought a little sheep key chain and Tim picked up an iron on New Zealand flag for his hat. There's supposed to be 12 sheep for every person in NZ and I couldn't resist even though it was probably made in China. Tomorrow is Anzac Day, similar to Remembrance Day back home, so we'll be visiting the war memorial museum.
