Where I stayed
After 13 hours of traveling, we finally made it! We're staying at the Bungalow Bay Koala Village. It's so beautiful here. Were surrounded by palm trees, wildlife and the best part, wild koalas are right in our back yard. Rainbow colored parakeets sing in the trees while we lay in the hammocks next to the pool side. We have our own little bungalow with air conditioning and fridge. They were looking for some accommodation workers so we're taking this opportunity to stay longer and save up some money for our trip to Cairns. We start tomorrow, working 2-3 hours each morning, washing sheets, cleaning out bungalows, blowing leaves off the patio, that kind of thing. This will pay for our accommodation and meals. Any extra hours we do will we paid in cash, $13/hour. By lunch time we will be done and have the rest of the day to ourselves.
We rented a motor bike today and went around the island. We had such a blast driving over water holes. We were soaked and covered in dirt by the time we got back to our bungalow. The past few days have been pretty quiet.
We saw our first wild koala today. We noticed a couple staring at something and they signaled to us to come over. He was right at the bottom of the tree and started to climb. He stopped for a bit, chewed on a few leaves but I guess they weren't that good because he made his way to the top. He dropped a few leaves and I picked one up for my scrapbook.
Tomorrow's going to be a busy day. This place was booked for Easter and everyone's checking out so we'll probably have about 20 + rooms to clean but that's o.k, more overtime. We're leaving this Tuesday for Cairns. Our last stop for the east coast. After that, we're not quite sure. We might visit Uluru (Ayers rock) before heading to New Zealand.
