We were right on schedule and arrived in Byron Bay around 8:00 pm last night. After being picked up at the bus station, we got settled into our room. We weren't really impressed with the place so we only stayed one night. We were sharing a room with 3 other people and a fan that blew hot air, all to say, it wasn't very comfortable. That night we walked around looking at other hostels and we found a really nice one. We now have our own room with ensuite.
Before arriving in Byron Bay, we were told that this place had a hippy vibe. So true! There are a lot of alternative therapy places and over 100 yoga classes are given every day. Last night, people were playing their guitars singing "give peace a chance". There's even a place where you can sleep in tepees but its set in swampland and we were told that once you leave the tepee, the mosquitoes eat you alive. Not our idea of a good time. Besides, doesn't sound like you would have much privacy and I'm sure there would be a lot of smokers...
This morning, we found a dive centre near our hostel and tomorrow were going snorkeling with turtles
In the afternoon, we walked around visiting the shops. Every other store sold hippy dresses, sarongs and flip flops. We then went to Main Beach and did some snorkeling. There was actually some sort of wreck in the water so we swam up to that and watched the fish swim by. Later we came back to the hostel, got cleaned up and made supper.
Tim and I are having a great time in Byron Bay. There are so many things to see and do. We were told that we must go to the Buddha bar Thursday night were they play some awesome didgeridoo. So we will definitely check that out.

Solitary Island
. It's only a 7 minute boat ride and I have my pills and bracelets so hopefully everything will be o.k. If so, I will finish my 3 dives on Thursday and Friday.
