We caught the ferry at 10:00 am and waited about 5 minutes before being picked up and brought to the sand dunes for our coastal desert safari. There we met up with some other people and were fitted for helmets. Then we all got into a safari truck and it brought us into the mountains. It was an open style truck so sometimes we had to duck for trees. Once we arrived, another guide explained how to use the quad bikes. That took about 30 minutes. Then, one by one, they took us up the sand dune where the bikes were waiting. There we practiced our stops and had a practice run where they determined our ranks. So off we went, going up and down the sand dunes. After 45 minutes, we stopped in front of a shipwreck. It was from Norway and the Captain died on board because he didn't want to leave. There's actually 1.5 million dollars worth of treasure under the ship but it would take 3 million to dig it up!
When we got back to the hostel we had some time before dinner so we went to the convict-carved Bogey hole. You will see it in some of the pictures. It's quite neat. You can hang onto the ropes and let the wave's crash into you. That night everyone from the hostel went to the Irish pub for some grub. He had to leave early in order to catch our bus so we didn't get a chance to hear the live music. We left Newcastle around 9:30pm and got into Port Macquarie around 1:00 am. It stopped a few times to pick up some people along the way. Once we got there, we called a taxi and it brought us to the Motel.
