On 30th May we left Ulan Baatar (rain, snow and thunderstorm) with a plane to Dalandsadgad (500 km south of Ulan Baatar; sun, sun, sun). Our travel-guide picked us up and brought us to the yurt-camp, really amazing, so sleep in a yurt in the desert. The camp had 20 yurts, but Florian and I were the only tourists!!! The yurt was very clean, had two beds, electricity (only from 20:00 to 24:00 o'clock) and an oven (soooooo important!!!).
On the first day we went to Gobi three beauties (nice mountains) and visited an icy stream which led us to the thick ice in the middle of the mountain. We also visited vulture valley, but did not see any vultures, but some gopher, chamois, ibex. In the evening we had a great dinner, my wish to eat vegetarian was respected. In the night we watched the sky, I never saw so many and so bright stars like here in the desert, amazing, I will never forget this view (I also saw 2 falling stars).
The next day (31st May) we left early in the morning with a jeep. There was no way, so we went cross country which was really exhausting because of many abrasions. But it was impressing to drive withount seeing anything else than the desert, no other cars, nothing, only sometimes some sheep, horses, cows, camels and also two different breeds of gazelles. After 6 hours and only 180 km we arrived Khongor dune, also called singing dune. It is the biggest sand dune in Mongolia, 200 m high and 180 km long. This night we stood at a mongolian family (camel breeding family). On a camel we went to the dune (4 km), really nice animals, but mine was not obedient, it only wanted to eat all the time.

Wow, these photos are so beautiful and inspiring - Mongolia must be a very special place and I would really like to go there. I love the photo of the Mongolian Child II - seems to be a 'real' character. Thank you very much for sharing the photos, Katrin
