After Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur my last destination...!
I really liked the city. It is so big and chaotic, so hot and humid and a little bit dirty. The only thing I really disliked was the fact that there is no real city center. Another thing which was really embarassing was is the behaviour of many tourists concerning women and prostitution - REALLY EMBARASSING. They feel so good and strong because of having money, but they do not understand that there are things you can not buy and there should be ethic concerns. It was a hard week - getting up early in the morning, some cultural program, in the afternoon shopping and going out in the night until early in the morning. I went to Ayutthaya, the former Siam capital which was amazing. Many temples and big statues of Buddha. There were no tourists and I went from spot to spot by TUKTUK. There was a cloudburst, I never saw so much water falling from the sky.
I also visited the floating markets (the real floating markets); there is also a floating market in Bangkok, but that one is only for tourists and quite boring. It was not easy to get there (to the real FM, approximately 70 km away from Bangkok) on my own, but after some hours I succeeded. I really loved the atmosphere. What else can I tell.....good food, good prices, nice markets where you can buy really nice things, but most of them are faked...! A really nice ending of three month in Asia, the only problem was excess luggage, 57,5 kg instead of 20 kg, but that is another story....(o: More thumbnails ...

hello,
I'm looking for information about the floating markets in or around bangkok. I read that the market located in damoen saduak has nothing authentic : just a touristic attraction.
Somewhere else I read that there where other floating markets in bangkok... Were you there or in damoen saduak? If it was in bangkok : where are these places exactly located?
Thanks in advance ... show all
