Slow start.  Very humid.  Flat terrain - made hiking with almost 30 pound packs on fairly easy.  It took us 5 hours to hike the full 7.5 miles all the way around Lums Pond (including a few breaks).  We better get our butts in gear!!  Saw lots of herons and turtles.  Heard a barred owl (not expecting that during the day!) "Who cooks for you?!"  Worked on identifying plants and trees.  Found lots of reed grass, jewelweed, pokeweed (highly toxic)- POKE!, and found an interesting fruiting tree.  We think they might be persimmons.  All in all - a good hike.
