We didn't make it very far the next day. But, it was good to be south of Katherine into the desert of the Outback. It was slightly cooler at night and all the "mossies" disappeared. Our first stop was at the Bitter Springs, a little ground water river that smelled like eggs but was really fun to swim down. We realized this wasn't the spring we were trying to get to and moved on to the Thermal Springs, where we set up camp for the night. This spring was so nice. It's a natural, warm spring that was turned into a pool of sorts by soldiers during the second world war. You can watch all the giant bats flying overhead at sunset as you float on your back. A sleep and another dip in the morning and we were due south, bound for Alice Springs.
