On Saturday, we drove down to Katherine, the only "big" town between Darwin and Alice Springs.  On the way, we stopped at some scenic area with cliffs, rivers, waterfalls, and the like.  Went for a swim.  It was beautiful but nerve racking with all the predators lurking about - you'll understand when you see the picture.  We were also pulled over by a cop for speeding.  Of course, Sam didn't have a driver's license or registration - fantastic.  Luckily, Sam's lies worked on the aboriginal police officer and we were able to continue with just a small fine.

We set up camp for the night at Katherine Gorge, a long gorge system that runs into a flat, 17 mile valley - the land is so flat here.  I hiked up to a viewpoint when we arrived to watch the sunset.  After the others went canoeing the next morning, we were on the road again.
