Back in Chile feeding alpacas....

Originally we were supposed to stay in Dunedin .... but that wasn't to be the case ... we got there in good time (luckily...) but when we got to the hostel we found out they overbooked our rooms for the next 2 nights as the card details I gave them were apparently wrong.... sooooo we decided to get elsewhere because the guy who worked there started shoutig at me (great customer service...)
so we ended up near Oamaru. The hostel we were in was another farmstay but it had alpacas! We were back in Chile :)
The private beach down the road also sold it to me :)
So we went off exploring again after dumping our stuff, passed the Moeraki boulders
along the way which look like massive eggs, epecially the ones that are broken, bit freaky they do look like broken egg shells...
then we ended up at the lighthouse where we could see the yellow eyed penguins again, but this time a lot closer - and we saw 6 along with the seals and sea lions - now theres only 300 in the world, so we did pretty well with a total count of 8! We could have watched them for hours but had to give in to darkness setting in.
The following day started off brill as as we had to vacate the hostel for an hour, we went for a walk on the beach - great way to start the day. O and I fed the alpacas too :)
though they were making weird noises at one point as I stopped feeding them and thought they were going to spit at me... but luckily they didn't!
Then the heavens opened when we got back and that was it pretty much for the rest of the day until the evening when we were planning to go blue penguin watching when it luckily cleared up and we could go and watch them. Now they were a treat!
The penguins came in rafts about 20 and they were so tired, they slowly made their way up the hill, so cute. They are only 30 cm tall and dumpy, so cute to watch. Then when they finally manage to make it up the hill, their chicks wait for them at the other side and start chasing them down and rugby tackling them for food - so funny to watch! Though we did get a bit of a scary moment when a fur seal decided to go up, belly flop over the fece and sniff the nests out - luckily he was only having a nose and went back into the sea.
Was so cool to watch, amazing!
