The tyre incident
Entry 28 of 73 | show all | print this entry |
Well the road back to Wanaka was a bit ... wet!
Properly tipped it down all the way but made the waterfalls we passed along the way spectacular. Sadly, we didnt stop as .... this crazy Magic bus driver who was seriously a complete nutter ruined it for us when we stopped to look at one. 10 mins earlier we stopped at the side of the road, then we went back on the road so pulled back out and did see a bus coming but it was miles away. So when we stopped, we were surprised that this bus just pulled up right next to us blocking us in, so we had to back the car out. Then this nutter comes up to us and shouts at us that we put him and his passengers in dangers, clearly watning a fight ... miles away he was.... We had to leave as you never know what he could have done to the car ....
It was rather miserable when we got to lake Wanaka, so we couldnt really appreciate how nice it was down there, the hostel was ok, it did us for the night - though not sure about one of the Germans we were sharing with ... a bit weird as he clearly had a w**k underneath where Kev slept hihihihi! You should have seen Kev's face!
As we set off for Milford Sound the following day, we got down he road a few meters to find out he tyre had blown! So we phoned the rental company but they found it funny as it was a sunday and no way we could find a place open to change the tyre in the little town we were in ... we had to o back to Queenstown and pay them a nice 50 bucks for changing the tyre. Fortunatly we ahd to go through there to get to Milford Sound, so off we went. Though we didnt feel safe in the temporary wheel that came with the car, it looked more like a tricycle wheel! But we managed to get it fixed within an hour, so that wasnt tooooo bad...
