Well it´s the last day here in Bariloche and it´s been a ball - we´ve stayed at 2 hostels, the 1st one: El Gaucho which wasn't value for money at all as it became more and more expensive the longer you stayed as you had to pay for breakfast and towels etc... but we got waya with not paying for our washing hehe!
The 2nd hostel, la Bolsa, was more worth it with our cabin log room. so cute, really good place with a kitchen and nice atmo.
Though some people were stuck up as they thought they were saving the world etc.. and were rude to Kev as though they were american, they wouldnt speak to him as he didn't speak spanish and they did and showed off...
The views are amazing - the city lies between the Andes and a big lake, amazing.
We´ve done loads of stuff too: on wednesday we took the bus to llao llao and hiked off road to Villa Tucul, a secluded beach with the most amazing view of the mountains.
On the way there we stoppped at Cerro Campanario and took a ski lift to the top where we could see all of the lakes and mountains - a view i´ll never forget, breathtaking.
Though on the way from there to Llao Llao we didnt pay the bus because he didnt say anything and us being complete dipsticks ... so we got funny looks from the bus driver and hoping that we would'nt get that bus driver on the way back to Bariloche.. we got away with it hehe!
On Thursday we went walking around town, more of a chill day, it peeeed it down (some people might be glad to hear that it was'nt all sun!).
On Friday we went horse riding for a couple of hours up to cerro otto, one of the nearby mountains
- though my horse just wanted to run whereas Kev got the short dumpy lazy horse!! Bless him, he looked like a proper gaucho! We did have problems finding the place I must point out - clun andino who are supposed to be God in Bariloche and they know where everywhere is managed to point us the wrong direction ... but some nice people put us in the right direction.
On Saturday, we took the bus to a big ski resort called Cerro Catedral where lies one of the biggest mountains around.
Though when we got there, it was like a ghost town... think summer season starts later than we thought as apparently it´s very busy in summer.... though there were loads of school parties around... We took the ski lift right up to the top to get a perfect view of the Andes, and the first mountain marking the border with Chile. AMAZING!!!
It was really hot but it was also snowy!
Crazy stuff! :)
Today we just bought our bus ticket as tomorrow we are leaving for San Rafael on the road to Mendoza, the wine country! LOADS OF WINE TASTING! :)
Hasta luego todos!
Where I stayed:
