Our day started with a big breakfast in the Dobbin House. The house itself was built in 1776 as a home for Rev. Alexander Dobbin, his wife, and 19 children. It now serves as restaurant & tavern.

Our first outing was to walk the national cemetery. It's hard to imagine how many died here until you see the rows and rows of grave sites. So many of the sites are marked Unknown. We walked up to the monument and the site of Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address.

Next we headed to the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum & Visitor Center. This is a beautiful, huge building built in 2008. It's worth the trip just to see the movie, museum and cyclorama.

The cyclorama is a 360 degree oil painting of the battlefield as seen from Cemetery Ridge. It's not something I can describe but I did take a few pictures. You stand in the center of the circle and a narrator explains the last day of battle while parts of the painting are illuminated. It makes you feel like you are actually on the battlefield. It's worth driving here just to see.

After lunch be both hit a wall and 5 days of travel caught up with us. We both needed a nap! I woke up and left sleeping beauty snoring while I went to the outlet mall. Interesting fact about PA, there is no sales tax on essential items like clothes and shoes.

When I returned, Danny and I walked up to the square for dinner at The Pub. Along the way we did some window shopping. Danny bought some cigars, I bought a pillow for my new house.

Now we are back on the porch. Danny is smoking a cigar and I'm having a cocktail and talking to the tourists as they walk by. Danny just harassed a car full of priests, of course! Today was a relaxing day that we both needed.

Tomorrow we plan to walk the fields of Pickett's charge, go to Little Round Top and Culp's Hill, have dinner in the old tavern, and take a late evening candlelight ghost tour.
