Day 1 Blue Ridge Parkway
Trip Start May 03, 2005
27Trip End Ongoing
We started our Blue Ridge Parkway journey. I bought a book about the Parkway which tells about each pull off, bridge, exhibit etc. The only problem is that it's written from Shendoah to Smoky Mountain and we are going the opposite way. But I got used to reading it backwards.
The weather wasn't co-operating and we had lots of drizzle and fog but we did get some chances to get out of the car to look at the beautiful mountains, hear some waterfalls and see the rhododendron.
We stopped around lunch time at Wolf Laurel Gap - Heintooga Spur Road (458.2) and ate in complete seclusion - a rare commodity in SMNF, at a picnic table in Black Camp Gap where there is a Masonic Marker
P S The wifi I paid for didn't work in the campground and I squeaked enough to get a refund. This was the worst campground we stayed in so far. The RV's were sandwiched together so that the awnings would overlap if the place was full, we were right on the road, there was no shade and it was the most money we had paid so far. :-(
