A big reason we came this way on our first adventure was to look at some property in this part of the country. There is a developer who has advertised 5 acre sites halfway between Nashville and Knoxville in Hanglimb and Wilder Mountain. They offered to put us up for 2 nights at the Best Western in Crossville and pay for our gas too so we took them up on their offer. The place is spectacular! We tramped through 4 different sites up on Wilder Mt with our guide and sales manager named "Donny". He seemed to know every inch of that mountain and from his account, all the surrounding ones too. He showed me blueberry bushes, wild strawberries, blackberry bushes, paw paw trees, sasafrass, spruce, oak, maple etc. There were views, water falls, and huge flat boulders for front porches. The highlight of the day was when John found a deer head with antlers attached. I think it was an 8 point. Donny was jealous and all the other fellas up there were too. We don't know what we will do with the thing but for now it lives in the basement of the rv.
The piece of property we liked the best had a waterfall on it but was too much money. After leaving Wilder Mt we looked at 3 other properties. All were Beverly deficient and to make matters worse, the last place we looked at had ticks. We each pulled one out of our hair and I had a little one on my shirt. John found the last one in the bathroom after we got back to the motel. Next time I'll be sure to use the deet!
