Wreath of Roses came back tonight to make the same dish as last time, subtracting spaghetti noodles but adding salt in exchange for some nice clean laundry. Her grandmother will be in Athens for a brief layover in the middle of a religious pilgrimage tour, and Wreath is summoning every cell of ferocity and confidence in her body to extricate her grandma from the tour during the layover so she can see her at the Athens airport.

After dinner, Wreath took advantage of the wifi that occasionally and unreliably makes itself present in my apartment to Skype her grandma's hotel. If anybody can move heaven and earth by her sheer will to see her loved one, it's Wreath of Roses.

It's getting rather chilly in Athens. I've got two blankets on my bed, and I'm walking around on the marble and wood floors in socks instead of bare feet (dangerous for a girl who carries quite a few international bruises from falling down all the time). It appears that the apartment is equipped with central heating, but I have to wait for the building manager to buy the fuel and decide it's time to turn the heat on. In the meantime, Kyria came to my apartment to point out that I have a space heater. Oh so that's what that thing is in the laundry room!
