The sun was still in its bed when we had to pile into the bus to take us to the ferry for a day trip to the island of Aegina (EGG-een-ah). Still weary from yesterday's trip to the Areiopagus and the ancient Greek agora, several of the students slept on the ferry, but a few were awake planning the big birthday party for Blink Blink. The students rented out a big room at a local club, and Blink Blink said her only birthday wish was for every single student in the group to come to the club and dance.

But first we had to see the sites of Aegina. We started at Kolonna, ruins of a civilization devastated by the Myceneans, where there is only one column left standing today. The students had a great time posing around the column, enjoying the fact that we could touch (or in one case, hug) the stone.

The new running joke is that Fred, Class Clown, and Mama D have formed a boy band, and everywhere we go, they pose for a shot for their album cover.

Spencer put in a special request that I mention in my blog that the morning was so warm and humid that when he removed the bag slung diagonally across his torso, he had a lovely diagonal sweat mark on the back of his shirt. Duly blogged, Spence.
