After Sunday morning breakfast, we had an hour-long bus ride to Gortyn (gore-TEEN). The road is only one lane each way with a double line in the middle, but the bus straddles the outside line on our right, and we're driving half on the shoulder. Cars pass us with impunity on our left, and the same thing happens going the other direction, effectively treating a two-lane road like a four-lane highway. An icon and a cross hang about the bus driver's head. For good reason.
