After spending most of the day hanging out in Santa Cruz we realized we still have a lot of driving ahead of us, so we better get going. However we again did not manage a long distance, there was so much to stop for! First off Bird Rock, where we saw seal, pelikans and squirrels, then the 17 mile drive in Monterey with the lone cypress, beautiful rocky coastline and pebble beach golf course.
Our goal was to make it to Big Sur and we even made it past, but the last part of the afternoon we spent immersed in fog. The road was windy and all bridges looked the same. We could hear the ocean down the cliffs, the screaming of the sealions, but we did not see anything. Quite spooky.
After googling pictures of the coastline we were quite gutted, but so be it. Another reason to come back.
