The primary purpose for this post is to put up a few pictures of the Japan Alps that we saw while visiting. Hakuba is one of the skiing resorts in the Japan Alps, about 2 hours from Nagano, where the Winter Olympics of 1998 were held. There are only 10,000 residents of Hakuba in the summer, and it is a beautiful place to escape the hectic big cities of Japan. The hikes are excellent, and the train rides up to the town are just as beautiful. We had no reason to be there...but we blame the JR pass as it gave Matt and Francis to much freedom.
Once Again Thank you Japan for the JR Pass- dreams do come true when you can travel on all train for a very cheap price---and we like cheap!!
