We decided to take a tuk tuk for a ride to local Temples (Wats) The Thai Tuk Tuks are a three wheeled motorbike. These guys drive fast, it is a fun ride, but dangerous as no one has a helmut and no seat belts on board. Thailand has a very high fatality rate due to the large number of cycles and tuk tuks and lack of helmut laws. They have improved over the years as more and more drivers are using helmuts.

First stop was the 65 meter tall Standing Budda. This is a modern construction featuring Italian gold moasic tiles.People were there making offerings and praying.

After riding the tuk tuks for a few days, I have a few suggestions. Never ever believe a person on the street who tells you that a given exhibit is closed, or only open for Thai people taday. Even if the guy is dressed and looks very official. Damn, I have been taken by this scam TWICE so far. Thay say the Royal Palace is closed, you have to come back in 2-3 hours. Better to take a tuk tuk to temple ......Then when you believe him, get in a tuk tuk, off you go to a temple, you think, WRONG. He takes you to a factory making furniture, jewelry, clothing. He gets credits used for fuel, you get your time wasted. I only take them for point to point rides now with clear stipulations no shopping at Export marts, etc. Hope you enjoy the pics.
