We decided to do a dry run on our anticipated route from Sam's house to Penn Station where we will board the AMTrac train to Montreal tomorrow. We entered the subway at Lennox (Malcomb X Blvd) and 116th Ave. and descended into the subway station. We scanned our cards, to pass through the turnstiles and waited for the train. The train appeared and came to a stop. We waited for folks to exit the train car. As I entered, I turned to the right and I saw only two seats available across the main aisle from each other. Barbara and I moved into the aisle and her seat was available but mine was blocked by a large red suitcase. The person sitting next to the my vacant seat was draped in a black robe, a black scarf and black face veil. They were staring down at their feet. The person had a very large red suitcase blocking passage to the seat.
Most major connections on the subway system have messanines for passengers making transfers. This day we enjoyed a group of break dancers. I have attached the videos of their routine. They, like all the New Yorkers we met were friendly and helpful.
We next visited the new High Line park. It was originally a elevated train track along the Hudson River over the Chelsea neighborhood
We visited Grand Central Station, for lunch. It is a great place for reasonable priced food or snacks. From there were traveled to the Empire State Building. We waited in line and went you to watch the sunset.
Tomorrow we're off to Montreal, Canada. Our friend Sam's generosity made this trip possible for us. Thank you so much Sam! Hope you all enjoy the photos Tom
