Where I stayed
We are staying at the Hotel Elios. We are the only quests in the place. They are ready to close for the winter. They have the hot water on only when we want a shower. They do make sweet cakes and pies to offer us for breakfast and there is a kitchen here. Barb has taken advantage of the kitchen, and has cooked several breakfasts and dinners while we were here. That saved a lot of money. The food costs on the street at reaturants amount to about the same as your room costs. We figure we are spending $ 180 US a day (includes transport, entrance fees, food and room), even though we keeep trying to keep it down. Man, It is expensive over here. I wonder how they will do if the world economy keeps being was weak as it is. Folks won't be able to spend that kind of money for very long.
Yesterday we took a bus to the southern coast to visit Positano, Almafi, and Ravello. This beautiful coastline is covered with narrow roads and villas clinging to the cliffs
We move tomorrow further south to Salerno for a few days. We planned to visit Pompei today but the weather was crappy and the fees were 11 Euro each (15 US) so we went out to dinner instead. For 4 beers and 2 fish and chips we spent 43 Euros or $58.00 in a funky tavern. Great fish, but it costs a lot to eat here. I think I have spent at least 30 dollars here just using the bathrooms.
Looking forwatd to Salerno, ad we plan to visit the major Roman Ruins of Paestrum.
