Well, I screwed up.While sitting in an internet cafe and skyping my friends, i managed to leave the place and leave my camera hanging on the arm of the chair. By the time I realized my mistake, The place was closed. When I returned , the Camera and the young man that ran the place the night before was both gone. Calls to the owner, eventually got the response that the kid had no recollection of seeing the camera. Damn. So I lost about 4 days of shots of Leon, the local Volcanoes and the historic Churches and revelotunary battle sites within the city.

What a bummer. Lost camera, case and 3 SD chips.

I am now sitting in a small cafe on the coast at Penitas beach. There is a sateleiite link here so I can update the post. We plan to hang here for a day or two more. There is a sea turtle research center here and they are actually swimming up on the beaches at night to lay eggs now. The rooms are filling up for Christmas. We will move the day before xmas to Matagalpa in the mountanious north. This is one of the worlds most volcanacaslly active places. We will hunker down there for two days and move onward and upward to Estili and Jinoteca. Before we head into the mountains, however, I will stop back in Leon, to make the kid an offer of $100 bucks cash I f i get my camera back. I do nbot have much hope. His batteries should be about out by now. Once he still says he does not have it (and he may not) I will head to Radio Shack in Leon on the day before xmas and see if they have a small digital camera there I can buy for Barbies as a christmas present. She wants one. We may be able to continue shooting with that one. We will be lńucky if they have one, the day before christmas.

If I buy a new one, I think IŽll get a caribeiner and clip it to my body , as thisd is not the fiorst camera I have lost on the trail. I remember a Minolta in Argentina, a video camera on a jungle river in Guatemala. and yet another that rolled into the river in Idaho. Damn I have got to do better.

Ups and downs along the trail. Tom

no camera
Too bad for us about the camera. We are happy, of course, that you guys still get to see things in the flesh. Good luck with the recovery or new purchase. I'll relate to you sometime about my lost wallet Cordoba. Hang in there!

Bummer about the camera. I have really enjoyed the pictures. Glad to know you are safe. Merry Christmas and HO! HO! HO!
