Day 1

Left Auckland at 7 am and headed straight up to Paihia. We got there around 12ish, checked into the hostel and walked down the town and booked a dolphin trip for 2 that day! We then walked around the village, got an ice cream and sat on the pier and then started off on the dolphin sight seeing, we came upon a pod of dolphins pretty quickly and they did the usual dolphin stuff, playing in the water, swimming under the boat, following the boat, leaping into the air, all the stuff you see on TV but it was just amazing to see them in the flesh, they are incredible creatures...and huge too!!

We then headed out to the outer part of the bay of islands, the ship captain took us through a massive3 hole in the rock and then dropped us off on an island where we took a hike to cable bay and to a lookout point on the bay of islands which was truly incredible! After an hour we hopped on the boat again and made our way back to port, stopping off at an old town called Russell on the way, we then headed back to the hostel where there was a BBQ, we then had a few cheap drinks in the hostel bar and chatted with some English and Irish for the night!!

Day 2

Up at 9, checked out, had breakfast and took a walk down to the pier, had a coffee there and walked through the village, headed back to the hostel, read for a bit, took another walk down the town, had fish and chips for lunch on the pier where we were attacked by a bunch of seagulls! We then headed back to the hostel and jumped onto the bus back to Auckland!!
