We went back to sleep for a couple of hours after that and then waited to get off the bus, the bus driver and the conductor were of no real help and the conductor wanted money to help look for the bag
. We watched everyone get off the bus and then the lads went to the police station to make a complaint. Maracay is where we were always parting company so we booked tickets to Merida and the lads went to the police station. It was a sad end to our time travelling with the lads and in particular for Mick.
We got lunch in the bus terminal and then got a taxi into Maracay and walked around the sights, which didn't take that long as there is very little to do. We spotted a German pub on the main square and went in there for a couple of hours and practised our Spanish with the locals. We then walked into the main shopping area, picked a few things up for the bus and headed out to the bus terminal to catch our bus to Merida!!
Sitting on the night bus with the two Aussies, Paddy and Mick, having a few beers, chatting and having the craic. Around 11:00 the lights went off on the bus and we chatted a little longer then went to sleep. What we didnt notice at the time was a middle aged woman taking notice off all our movements and in particular to Mick's bag. At 3 I was woken by Mick in a panic looking for a torch so he could search for his bag. He woke up and the bag that was under his seat was missing and the woman was gone. She hit the jackpot when she took Micks bag, two thousand US Dollars, a nikon camera, lenses, iphone, e reader, passports, credit cards, debit cards, sun glasses, two thousand irreplaceable pictures...the list goes on. It was a massive downer for everyone in particular for Mick who lost approximately 5 thousand dollars in money and equipment.
