After a week there, it was time to leave the "big city life" in search of the chilled, coastal life Brazil is famous for. I found it in the old colonial town of Paraty, down the coast between Sao Paulo and Rio. It was a charming and small town, full of well-preserved colonial buildings set within a spectacular mountainous coastline. Stayed at a great hotel with very friendly management, and also enjoyed some time up in the mountains at a very quiet waterfall and chapel.
