I went to Amana today, my old stomping grounds. The midwives there remembered me and welcomed me back. I brought new goods from my hospital in the states. They were still using ones I brought last year so that was good. The hospital is really well stocked. They even have an ultrasound machine now to diagnose transverse lie or see if the baby is still alive. A big step up from my stay in 2000.

I got to deliver a baby. It went ok. The woman was pushing too soon and swelled up her cervix so I had to push it out of the way. The poor baby came out stunned and covered in Meconium so not only did I have to deliver it, I had to suction and rescucitate it too. I was worried it asperated the Meconium but after an hour or so it was breathing better. You have to be tough here - no NICU to push you along. I took polaroids of all the postpartum moms and babies and digital for myself.
