Windy drive to 'Twin Cities'
Entry 221 of 241 | show all | print this entry |
We had about a 4 hour drive to Minneapolis today and it was a windy one. I wanted to grab a workout before we left Sioux Falls, so Kelly and the boys went bowling while I ran to the gym. They wanted to go last night, but we didn't get there in time. We got on the road around noon.
We got into the RV park around 4pm and got set up. One of the main reasons we decided to spend the weekend here is to see our friends Dan and Deb Chinander. Dan is the producer who recently finished his first film and is in the works to start a second. They've lived in South Florida for a few years, but just moved back to Minnesota.
Once we got set up and I washed the 'house'(RV), we went downtown to the Twins/Athletics baseball game. However, once we got there and got seats, it was a little disappointing being in a dome.(an old dome) We got a little spoiled going to games in San Diego and San Francisco. They had beautiful new, outdoor stadiums. The Twins play in the same dome that the Vikings play in and it's pretty old. Anyway, we left early and drove around downtown a bit. I had talked to Dan earlier and found out he was going to be at the game with his daughter. We caught up with them before we left the game.
Kelly and I were pretty impressed with the skyline downtown. We've seen most of the major U.S. cities, but Minneapolis has some great architecture. It definitely stands apart from most others. The building are each very unique, but they're laid out in a way that looks very symmetrical when you look at it from far away.

Hey Guys,
I have been in Minneapolis once but stayed near the airport and meeting was in a residence in Edina (about ten minutes from airport). I stayed across from the huge Mall of America but never walked across the street to shop/tour. While there, I did hear the downtown is supposed to be pretty clean and full of nice folks.
Please tell Dan and Deb that I said hello. ... show all
