'Wall Drug Store'
Entry 218 of 241 | show all | print this entry |
We stayed at Wal-Mart last night. This morning, we headed toward the 'Badlands,' our next stop. Along the way, we were told we had to stop at 'Wall Drug Store.' We hadn't heard of it before, but we won't forget it. We passed countless billboards for it along the way. I guess it stated out, in 1931, as a simple drug store. Today, it's a small city with thousands of tourists. We walked around, had lunch and saw lots toys and trinkets that little boys can't live without. So, after we dragged Keegan and Collin out of there we headed down the road.
It took us about 45 minutes to get to our RV park in the Badlands. Having no idea what to expect, it was amazing to see miles of farm land and then, all of the sudden, incredible rock formations with spectacular colors. We drove into the park about 15 miles before we got to the park.
It was so hot when we got to the park there was only one place to go. The boys and I swam in the pool for a while. We were supposed to go to a ranger program tonight, but we had a major thunder storm. We didn't mind staying in for a night.
